Pregnancy Massage
Massage during pregnancy can be beneficial for mum-to-be and Swedish body massage is recommended. It can help with many of the associated symptoms of pregnancy, particularly in the later stages when back aches can be a problem! Your therapist will make sure that you are in the most comfortable position to receive massage, usually either seated or lying on your side and supported by pillows for maximum comfort. In later stages, lying on your side is preferable and most comfortable for you to receive the massage.
If you think you may be pregnant but are not sure, then please tell your therapist! It is recommended that you wait until the second trimester (13 weeks) before receiving a massage.
Pre-natal massage may help to:
- reduce oedema
- increase feel-good hormones
- improve sleep
- reduce back pain
- improve circulation
